Glass Negative Restoration/Wadena/MN/lifestyle photo
These are a few examples of a large group of 5x7 and 3x6 inch glass negatives discovered in the hay loft of a barn in central Minnesota. My parents bought the farm of family friends and made the discovery when cleaning out old hay bales in the loft. Scanning and restoring these plates was a long and arduous process. After talking with descendants from the original farm owners, I found out that one of the family members was indeed an early commercial photographer. The photographer's name was Fred Kurz and this is his visual time capsule that I was fortunate enough to have fall into my hands. It's a wonderful look back at life in central Minnesota in the early part of the 20th century.
